SIMPLIFYING COMPLEX IDEAS

Some of the world's most valuable ideas are also the hardest to communicate.

Brands, International Organizations, Think Tanks, Academic and Research Institutions generate an extraordinary amount of knowledge, yet much of it remains largely unseen, buried inside hour long videos or dense publications.

Whether the starting point is a report, a keynote, a panel, a presentation, an executive summary or an interview, my role is to identify the central idea, write a compelling narrative around it and COLLABORATE WITH AN ANIMATION STUDIO TO CREATE AN EXPLAINER THAT HAS the greatest chance of connecting with an audience.

ORIGINAL SCRIPTS

This series was developed for the World Economic Forum to help unpack the meaning and implications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Many projects begin not with a story, but with presentations, executive summaries, educational literature, internal strategic communications and key messaging documents. My role is to transform these often fragmented materials into compelling narrative for a general educated audience. Once the script and creative direction are established, I partner closely with specialist animation studios to bring each film to life.

KEYNOTES

Video recordings of panels or conference sessions can be incredibly informative, yet they seldom attract viewership beyond the specialists who need them for their work or studies. With this format, my role is to distil the strongest ideas into a clear, concise radio edit that lends itself to compelling visual storytelling and enhanced viewer retention. In this example, I used a keynote delivered by Christine Lagarde in Davos as the narrative backbone for the film, developing the script and creative direction for the animation around her original presentation.

REPORTS

Major reports are often the culmination of months, or even years of research and often represent an organization's most important intellectual output. A launch film is an opportunity to give that work a compelling public debut. I identify the report's strongest ideas, shape them into a clear and engaging narrative, and develop a creative concept that becomes the visual centrepiece of the launch. From writing the script and directing the voiceover performance to leading the creative development with animation partners, I oversee every stage of the storytelling process to ensure the film communicates the report with clarity, emotion and impact. Designed to support press, events and digital campaigns, the film generates curiosity, communicates the key findings and invites audiences to explore the report in full.

INTERVIEWS

Another format is using original interviews rather than existing material. Knowing from the outset that the final piece will be animated fundamentally shapes how I conduct the conversation. I prepare each interview with the edit already in mind, guiding contributors to express complex ideas naturally while ensuring their thoughts can later be woven into a clear, compelling narrative.

The result is that the story remains entirely in their own voice. Rather than relying on a scripted narrator, audiences hear directly from the expert, creating a stronger sense of authenticity, trust and emotional connection. While a teleprompter can produce a polished delivery, I've found that the spontaneity, conviction and personality of an unscripted conversation almost always make for a more engaging film.

EDUCATIONAL

Unlike standalone films, educational content must function as part of a broader learning journey. Every video has a specific purpose within the curriculum, whether introducing a concept, building on previous knowledge or preparing learners for what comes next.

My role is to understand that structure first. Working closely with educators, subject matter experts and programme leads, I develop scripts that align with the learning objectives, level of expertise and wider educational framework. The result is content that feels coherent across an entire program, helping learners absorb complex ideas progressively while remaining engaging.
